Later in the meeting, a board member outlined district “unfunded needs” totaling just over $1.37 million and asked the community to engage with the city’s budget process before the council’s final work session and first reading. The unfunded items identified included six additional positions to support students with disabilities, a $200,000 request to strengthen information-technology security, and staffing for central registration to improve enrollment access for multilingual families. The member warned that if these needs remain unfunded the effects are likely to shift onto overburdened teachers and delayed services.
Board members closed their comments and the meeting adjourned after a motion carried 7–0.
