School board approves group tenures, $50,000 for two vehicles and contract renewals

The Lebanon Special School District board voted to grant tenure to a group of district teachers, approve an amendment allocating up to $50,000 to purchase two auxiliary vehicles for student transportation and renew two existing vendor contracts.

A motion to grant tenure to the listed teachers was approved after staff attested that those individuals met the district's requirements for tenure. The board invited the newly tenured teachers forward for recognition and a group photo.

The board also approved a budget amendment to allow up to $50,000 to purchase two used minivans to support transportation needs that include special-education trips and transporting students experiencing homelessness. Staff told the board that buses remain hard to procure and that the additional vehicles will help cover gaps when vehicles are out or in high demand.

Separately, the board renewed a service contract with R.J. Young for the annex building, which staff said provides reliable support to spaces that house nurses, behavior support and cafeteria services. Trustees also approved a multiyear renewal with Canon to continue providing copier equipment and services to the district's elementary schools. A board member asked whether consolidating to a single vendor would be preferable; staff responded that the Canon contract is a state bid and districts retain latitude when selecting vendors.

All consent and action items were moved, seconded and called for a voice vote; no opposition was recorded in the meeting transcript.
