The board paused its regular agenda for a student spotlight featuring the district’s NAS archery program.
"My name is I am the coach here," said Miss Stiggins, who described the program as a national activity that engages students and prepares them for competition and possible college opportunities. She said the program is in its second year at the school and that the team plans to compete at the state meet in March.
Miss Stiggins explained practice protocols for indoor and outdoor shooting, the whistle commands used in competition, and that safety rules and equipment rotation (five-arrow quivers and color coordination for shared targets) govern scoring and disqualifications. The program includes an assistant instructor who recently completed certification.
Students from the program gave a short demonstration for the board during the spotlight segment. The board thanked the students and returned to routine business after the presentation.
