If these guys will approve you, you guys,'" one commissioner recounted regarding the verbal offers, and the motion to appoint was then seconded and carried by voice vote.
The board referenced West Cemetery bylaws adopted in 2021 that call for three members plus one alternate. Commissioners discussed which existing members might defer to serve as alternates and agreed that written statements would help the county maintain a clear record of each nominee's interest and qualifications.
The motion to approve the appointments passed with all present voting yes. The county asked staff to follow up to obtain the written statements and to confirm whether a formal alternate designation is required under the board's bylaws.
