An education presenter said the Neo units met student needs and are about half the price the district has previously paid for comparable devices. The presenter explained AppleCare economics: the district pays roughly $159 for four years of AppleCare coverage, which allows Apple to repair or replace devices at no district cost in many cases. By contrast, a typical laptop display replacement runs about $395, the presenter said.
The presenter also said district technology staff have sent 689 laptops to Apple for repair since January 2024, framing AppleCare as a significant operational and financial benefit given limited in‑district repair capacity. The district also reported having a single service technician and noted AppleCare reduces burden on in‑house staff.
