The Verona Area School District board opened the meeting by recognizing students and staff in an annual art awards ceremony. Superintendent Dr. Clarity called the evening her "favorite board meeting of the year," and the board presented certificates and medals to winners across elementary, middle and high school levels.
Students honored included Dominic Jacobson (selected as an FCCLA national semifinalist and Coca‑Cola Scholar recipient noted during the ceremony) and many named art winners from Glacier Edge Elementary through Verona Area High School. Teachers and art instructors read descriptive citations for each student’s work; staff asked winners to come forward for certificates and medals.
Board members also acknowledged staff recognitions and a national community-music education honor for the district’s music program. Trustees thanked educators and volunteers for their contributions and noted the timing of the event during Educator Appreciation Week.
The ceremonial recognitions concluded before the board moved into reorganization and business items on the agenda.
