Almada said three applicants who completed background checks from quarter four of 2025 were not disqualified, and that, overall, three people were hired this quarter. He added that one new hire is pending the academy, another is pending military terminal leave and a third is currently with a field training officer. "Three graduated from the academy this quarter," Almada said, and he noted two others remain in the academy and are expected to graduate next week.
On internal oversight, Almada said there were no discipline matters to report but that one separated employee's certification is under review by CJTC and the department is assisting with that review.
The commission approved the meeting agenda and then the minutes by voice votes; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript. A participant said the city manager has selected a candidate to fill an open commissioner seat pending certification; that person is expected to join at the August quarterly meeting.
