Northwest Allen County students win scholarships and advance to Regeneron International Science Fair

President Hathaway and Superintendent Mr. Barker opened the meeting by recognizing students from across the district for academic achievements, most notably Carol High School sophomores who advanced to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair.
"Advancing to international competition is honestly more than just a win. This is a life-changing opportunity for these students," Superintendent Mr. Barker said as he read awards earned at regional and state competitions, including a $3,000 renewable scholarship to IU Indianapolis School of Science for one student.
Board members listed each student and the honors they received. Among the projects recognized were work on targeted curcumin delivery using smart nanogels for colorectal cancer research, and several Regeneron Biomedical Science Awards at the state level. The board noted that advancing through regional, state and international levels is widely called the "triple crown" in competitive student research.
The meeting also included recognition of five third-grade students who scored in the top 2% statewide on the iLearn math assessment. Teachers for each student were named and the district said photos and information would be posted to the district's social channels in the coming days.
The honors preceded the board's regular business agenda and underscored the district's emphasis on STEM and early-literacy support programs as part of its broader academic priorities.
