The Chicago Police Board on a roll-call vote affirmed disqualification decisions for applicants in appeals numbered 25 AAA34, 25 AA35, 25 AAA36 and 25 AA37 and reversed the disqualification decision for appeal 25 AAA28. The board said a written decision will be issued as of today's date and posted to the Police Board website.
Board members recorded 'I' votes in the roll call. Vice President Badia, Board member Block, Board member Hall, Board member Les, Board member Porter, Board member Safakus and Board member Terry voted in favor. Board member Velasquez said she would recuse herself from one of the listed appeals. The motion passed.
The appeals process gives applicants who are removed from eligibility lists after background investigations the right to appeal to the board, which may review closed-session investigations and take final action in public session. The board did not provide further detail about the factual bases for each appeal during the public session; the board said the full written decisions will be issued to the parties and posted online.
