Board approves community survey, trick-or-treat hours and intermunicipal salt-storage MOU

The Village Board approved the 2026 community survey (with minor edits), set trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 31, 2026, and authorized a memorandum of understanding to share a salt storage facility with Glendale and Whitefish Bay; staff will keep a small local salt supply for storm events.
At its May 4 meeting the Village Board approved a set of operational items and intermunicipal agreements meant to support routine services and community engagement.
Survey and events: Trustees approved the 2026 community survey after minor edits to parking-related wording (including language to consider metered parking). The board also set 2026 trick-or-treat hours for October 31 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Salt-storage MOU: The board authorized a memorandum of understanding with the City of Glendale and the Village of Whitefish Bay to share a bulk salt-storage facility at Glendale Public Works. Staff said Shorewood will continue to keep a limited local supply to refill trucks during storm operations and that using a regional facility will improve storage efficiency and intermunicipal cooperation.
Other items: trustees approved the consent agenda and adopted revisions to policy 30 (committee appointments) and the neighborhood greenway communications plan. Several appointments were forwarded to the Village Board for final approval; two committees’ appointments (Community Development Authority and Parks & Public Spaces) were deferred to allow additional applicants.
