The Rio Blanco County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of two 3/4-ton trucks from Victory Motors after staff presented an eight-bid tabulation and recommended the low bidder.
Brian, presenting the procurement, said the lowest bid — from the local dealer recommended by staff — was notably lower than other offers and that lead time was acceptable. Commissioners discussed local preference rules and the county’s 5 percent threshold for bid-price differences; staff noted the low bid exceeded the local competitor by more than 5 percent but recommended proceeding with the lowest responsive bid. The sheriff’s office had requested not to use Ram trucks for their fleet, but staff said departments receiving the trucks had no objection.
A motion to purchase the two trucks for county departments was made and seconded and carried on roll call. The trucks will be placed on a three-year lease as part of the county fleet program. Staff said they would follow procurement policy and finalize lease paperwork.
