Mayor's Youth Council selects Conway High School recycling program as its 2025–26 project

Mayor Blaine opened the meeting and recognized members of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council, praising their year of events and civic engagement. "We know that the decisions we make at our meeting tonight will affect all of you much longer than they will affect us," he said, thanking students for their service.
Mr. Rogers summarized the council's proposed legacy project: the students will form a club to run a recycling program at Conway High School, provide the collection infrastructure and coordinate separation of trash and recyclables. Staff said the program is planned to begin in the next school year and targets larger buildings on campus that currently lack full recycling operations.
Council members formally moved to establish the CHS recycling program as the council's 2025–26 community project. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Mrs. Hyman said the youth council also completed a mural project; the city agreed to a ribbon-cutting on Friday, May 22 at 4:00 p.m. A short video of the mural was shown at the meeting.
The youth portion of the meeting adjourned after brief remarks from the junior mayor and student participants. The formal city council session then convened.
