Martin County Water District approves minutes and routine financials amid higher repair costs

The Martin County Water District on its regular meeting approved minutes and a series of routine financial reports, while staff warned that repair and maintenance costs and timing of payables have pushed some accounts higher than usual.

Treasurer and operations staff reported the operations checking balance at $186,925 and current assets at about $873,260. Total assets were discussed in the $20.8 million range. Staff said January operating revenues came in below budget and expenses were above budget, driven largely by repairs and maintenance and rental costs for a temporary pump and diesel fuel. A 2015 bond payment of about $97,862 was also noted.

Board members discussed accounts-payable details tied to ongoing projects (meter replacements, raw-water intake and raw-water intake-related contractors). After questions about specific vendor invoices and outstanding draws, the board voted by voice to approve payment of the presented bills and to accept the treasury and other financial reports.

The board also approved routine housekeeping motions: renaming a project bank account to the 2015 bond sinking fund, closing an ARC grant bank account and opening a restricted non-interest account for the KY 2031 utility relocation project. No formal roll-call vote tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript; actions were carried by voice vote.

Looking ahead, staff said they will continue to monitor repair spending and bring updated reconciliation materials, including documentation about project-related draws and invoices, to future meetings.
