Commissioners approved committee-recommended items including $7,400 for backup batteries for voting marking devices and authorized the finance director to sign a $16,000 election system software contract amendment. The commission also approved county general and highway insurance premium recommendations and multiple general fund and school fund budget amendments presented in the packet.
On personnel matters, the personnel committee proposed an additional paid stipend for sheriff's office employees (a half-hour per shift stipend not to exceed three and a half hours per pay period, with an annualized estimated cost of $227,500). The Budget Committee recommended holding off on appropriating that stipend until the committee could review updated financials and sales-tax figures; the full commission voted to defer final appropriation pending that review.
The board also approved a hazardous duty study resolution and a tax-relief resolution matching the state's tax-relief amount. Commissioners approved multiple notary public appointments that were read into the record.
In new business the board voted to allocate $5,000 to the Warrior Project and $500 apiece to three VFW posts and the American Legion; commissioners noted that appropriations would need to be reflected in the budget. The meeting adjourned following the vote.
