Committee authorizes solar-lease signature, approves consent agenda and appointments, then adjourns to executive session
Summary
The School Committee unanimously approved the consent agenda, authorized Superintendent Dr. Kuska to sign solar-lease agreements for Adams Middle School and Vassalboro Elementary, appointed Tracy to the communications subcommittee, and adjourned into executive session to discuss bargaining and superintendent matters.
At its April 30 meeting the Holliston School Committee completed several procedural actions before entering executive session.
The committee approved the consent agenda by unanimous roll-call vote. Later in the meeting members reviewed solar-lease agreements for district properties and voted to authorize Superintendent Dr. Kuska to sign the agreements that tie the district's lease terms to the already-executed power purchase agreement (PPA). Committee counsel and the district's consultant had reviewed language addressing vendor insolvency and tightened linkage between the lease and the PPA; members said no material changes remained.
The committee then appointed Tracy to the communications subcommittee for the remainder of the session to avoid quorum issues and to provide a third member for that work. The body also voted to authorize two staff members to prepare a concise budget message (no more than three pages) to accompany the approved budget presentation.
Finally, the chair moved to adjourn open session and enter executive session to discuss strategy related to collective bargaining and the superintendent; the committee voted unanimously and did not return to open session that evening.
