Dysart Unified staff frame Kingswood preschool relocation to Growing Minds to address capacity and restroom access

The administration said Kingswood’s campus — built in the late 1980s and lacking portables and sufficient bathroom facilities for expanded preschool and special-program needs — has reached capacity pressures after adding teachers and other programs. Growing Minds was described as a purpose-built preschool location with eight currently unused classrooms that include required bathroom facilities, making it a practical relocation site.
"We currently provide busing for all of our ESS students in preschool. So there would be no difference in providing transportation to Growing Minds," an administrator said, explaining that transportation for these students would continue. The administration also said staff who currently work at Kingswood would remain the staff for the relocated preschool classrooms.
Board members asked whether kindergarten classrooms at Kingswood had bathrooms; Kingswood principal Miss Miller confirmed "we do have bathrooms in all of our kindergarten classrooms currently and then we have the bathrooms in our two preschool rooms currently." Administrators said they had prepared internal work on options and would begin parent communications once the board had discussed the possibilities.
Administration framed this discussion as part of a larger review of capacity pressures across the district (including Asante and Mountain View areas) and the potential to consolidate preschool models to create consistent resources and possibly expand daycare-type hours in the future. No final relocation vote was recorded during the meeting; the item was presented for information and discussion.
