Richard Fronzo, representing UTLA, addressed the board to thank the bargaining team and to raise concerns about teacher compensation and retention.
Fronzo credited the bargaining team and named several staff members for extra effort, then outlined wage comparisons with LAUSD. He said the school has fallen behind LAUSD in recent years and proposed a 10% raise to move compensation back into a competitive position: “We propose 10%,” he said, arguing that the increase would help keep the school ahead of the district’s downward trend on salary competitiveness.
Fronzo also pressed for greater transparency around executive compensation, noting he could not find the CEO salary posted, and said that, unless addressed, staff morale and retention could be at risk. He warned members that union‑organized actions had been discussed and that some teachers had been placed “on notice.”
The board heard the comment as part of public input; administrators acknowledged the concerns and noted negotiations are ongoing with district and labor partners. There was no formal board action on the request during this meeting.
Next steps: the district and UTLA will continue negotiations; any formal proposals or votes would be scheduled through the board’s bargaining and personnel processes.
