Summary
The Nantucket Land Bank Commission approved a July 19 fundraiser by Nourish Nantucket that will use the clubhouse and bar area for a two‑hour reception (3–5 p.m.), with staff-directed signage and a requirement that golfers continue to be served through the snack‑bar window during most of the event.

The Nantucket Land Bank Commission voted April 28 to allow Nourish Nantucket to host a fundraiser at the Land Bank clubhouse on Sunday, July 19, with limited use of the bar area for a two‑hour period starting at 3 p.m.
Staff framed the event as a community fundraiser scheduled during a slow period for the course, saying the event would not interfere with golf operations because golfers would be served through the snack‑bar window and the event would be largely staged on the patio. A staff member said the Land Bank could provide signage and advance notice to members to manage expectations.
Commissioners discussed precedent and potential impacts. One commissioner said the proposal set a “precedent” because it would be the first time the Land Bank closed the entire clubhouse for a community event; another urged clear member notification so golfers would not be surprised. Staff responded that the event would be limited to a short window and that the organization would be permitted to use the bar area to support ticket sales.
After discussion, a commissioner moved to approve the request and the commission approved the motion by voice vote.
The commission asked staff to ensure clear advance communication to membership and on‑site signage the day of the event. Staff also noted that donated food (including venison) might be possible under donation rules but would require additional legal or operational checks.
The commission did not identify any legal or statutory barriers during the discussion; staff will follow up with any required licenses and logistical details ahead of the July event.
