The Ocean View School District board voted April 28 to hire Dr. Danielle Phillip as assistant superintendent of educational services under a three‑year contract starting July 1, 2026.
At the meeting the board read aloud the compensation and contract terms required by law: an annual base salary of $212,489, eligibility for a $2,000 annual doctoral stipend, a $500 monthly automobile allowance for job duties, and 22 days of annual vacation (carryover limited to 22 days). The contract provides for the assistant superintendent to receive the same salary increases as other certificated administrators and contemplates a 3% annual base increase effective July 1, 2027, subject to contract renewal and a satisfactory evaluation.
Board members moved and seconded the offer; the motion carried unanimously with one absence recorded. After the vote Dr. Danielle Phillip addressed the board, thanking trustees and describing a long family history with the district: "Ocean View has been a part of my life and family for as long as I can remember. It is the district that has shaped me as a student, welcomed me into the teaching profession 22 years ago, and supported my own children throughout their education," she said.
Why it matters: The hire fills a senior instructional leadership role and was accompanied by the public disclosure of contract terms required by Government Code section 54953(c)(3). The board's vote was final at the meeting.
