The Senate Finance Committee adopted amendment 2026-1646 to a parks-related bill (1768) to permit parks to solicit, receive and accept monetary and in-kind donations and to place those receipts into a parks gift-and-donation account for sponsor recognition.
A sponsor told the committee the amendment would let parks accept donations for items such as signage at parking lots and would avoid a revenue loss by expanding what the existing fund can receive. Legislative Budget Assistant testimony indicated the amendment had no fiscal impact.
Senator Lang noted that section two of the bill—raising a threshold from $2,500 to $50,000—remained in place and that the amendment would replace section one while leaving other fiscal provisions intact. After discussion, members approved the amendment by voice vote and then approved the bill as amended; there was no objection to placing the item on the consent calendar.
The amendment and the bill as amended passed by voice vote; committee members assigned handling responsibilities for consent as usual.
