Commission approves minutes, hears budget and committee guidance for upcoming months

The Clemoth Advisory Commission on Disability Issues approved its March meeting minutes and considered administrative items at its April 30 meeting.
Commissioners unanimously approved the minutes after a minor correction to an acronym (motion by Eric Duffy, seconded by Trisha Kovac). Unha reported the commission signed a contract for interpretation and printing services that runs through March 2027. ADA coordinator Angie Wise reported allocations of $2,000 for Braille services and $4,000 for ASL interpreting, plus an additional $5,000 that is shared with the Equal Employment Opportunities officer for service needs.
Angie Wise also summarized a Department of Justice action extending the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines compliance deadline to April 26, 2027, and reminded the commission that Title II of the ADA still requires the city to provide reasonable modifications and individual accommodations upon request.
On old business commissioners discussed forming committees. City attorney Josh Carti advised that any committees established by the commission would be public bodies under Ohio's open‑meetings laws, requiring notice, minutes and public accessibility; he also said committee meetings may be held entirely virtually as long as the public can join by Zoom. Commissioners suggested possible committee topics (equity, transportation or a recommendations panel) and were asked to email ideas ahead of May and June meetings so a vote to establish committees could occur in June if desired.
There were no public comments at the meeting. Commissioners finished announcements and adjourned; the next commission meeting is scheduled for May 28 at 2:00 p.m.
