Leominster council backs mayoral reappointments to multiple boards, holds one separate vote

The Leominster City Council on April 27 moved to grant a broad slate of mayoral reappointments to boards and commissions (C‑70), following interviews by the subcommittee. The items include reappointments to the board of appeals, board of assessors, board of health, cemetery commission, library trustees and other commissions.
The subcommittee reported interviews with department heads and recommended approval of most reappointments; the chair said the panel was "pretty impressed" with candidates’ qualifications and suggested the council move forward. One councilor noted an individual recusal for their own appointment and asked that the Doyle Field Commission item be held for a separate vote.
Councilors also suggested instituting a simple attendance-tracking sheet for boards and commissions to provide historical attendance data ahead of future reappointments. A communications error was noted that prevented portions of the subcommittee meeting from being broadcast; members said they would work with the mayor’s office to avoid future lapses.
The council agreed to the committee’s recommendation and approved the majority of reappointments with the Doyle Field Commission handled separately.
