Bill Scott sworn in as Atoka fire chief; board approves $3,000 credit card for chief

Bill Scott was formally appointed and sworn in as Atoka Fire Chief at the Oct. 15 Town Board meeting.
Mayor Barry moved to appoint Scott and the board approved the nomination. Scott recited an oath to support the U.S. and Tennessee constitutions and pledged to "faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of the office of the fire chief of the Atoka Fire Department." He thanked department members, past leaders and his family.
Following the appointment, the board approved a town-issued employee credit card for Chief Scott with a $3,000 limit and discussed spending limits and required approvals for purchases.
The mayor invited aldermen to congratulate Chief Scott; the board scheduled a separate swearing-in for a lieutenant at a later date because the lieutenant's daughter could not attend.
