The Atoka Town Board postponed action on a resolution to adopt a new town brand and logo on Oct. 15 after members and members of the public expressed dissatisfaction with the design and concern about the approval process.
Several residents told the board they had not been asked to vote in an official town poll and that online reactions represented private social media pages. Board members said they had seen limited design options and that the consultant recommended presenting a single logo design; some aldermen said they wanted to review additional concepts and color options before final adoption.
A motion to table the resolution and take up the branding in a future work session passed by roll call 4–2. Staff reported approximately $177,000 allocated to the branding and marketing contract, with about $4,500 spent so far on the logo portion. Board members asked staff to bring the other design options shown during the consultant's process and to schedule a work session for fuller board input.
The board clarified that the town seal, which encapsulates local history, will remain unchanged and that any marketing implementation would follow final approval and budget review.
