Mohawk resident warns Montgomery County lawmakers of possible Fulton County annexation, industrial park and traffic impacts

He said Fulton County had already completed a phase one and was in phase two, and that he believed the buyer paid about $500,000 for the parcel and that roughly $1.2 million had been invested in the property to date, funded by state grants.
Subic said residents are concerned the buyer may seek annexation of the Montgomery County portion of the farm and then develop light advanced-manufacturing or industrial park uses. He warned that truck traffic would increase on Route 30A and on the school hill above Fonda Foldenville Central School, creating safety and congestion concerns for students and local drivers. He also noted the property is active farmland with federal wetlands that could be affected by development, and said he understood wetlands mitigation would require federal approvals and possibly purchases of wetland credits.
Subic said he and neighbors had raised the issue with the Town of Mohawk board, and that Town Supervisor Janet De Palama told them the board was "100% against the annexation idea" and would contest it. He named the Fulton County contact as Ron Peters and asked the Legislature to be aware of the situation when it comes before county decisionmakers.
