Tecumseh school board approves non-general fund budget, Aramark contract and new math curriculum

The Tecumseh Public Schools Board on April 13 unanimously approved a set of routine but consequential measures, including the districtnon-general fund budget, a food-service contract renewal with Aramark and adoption of a new math curriculum.
Board members voted to approve the non-general fund budget after a brief presentation from administration that said the districtwhich earlier in the year had an adopted operating deficit of about $360,000is now projecting roughly a $150,000 positive position after adjustments. "We're sitting in a much better place than I thought we were," the administrator reported to trustees.
The board then approved a one-year renewal of its food-service contract with Aramark for the 2026'027 school year. The motion carried on a roll-call vote with every trustee voting aye. Trustees followed that with a roll-call vote adopting the recommended math curriculum presented by administration.
All three measures were approved by unanimous vote. Board roll-call transcripts record Trustee Davis, Trustee Martinez, Trustee Lewis, Trustee Miller, Trustee Simpson and Trustee McGee each voting in the affirmative, and the presiding officer casting the deciding aye in each tally.
The approvals came near the end of a meeting that also included student presentations, a budget committee update and discussion items related to proposed student travel abroad. Administration said more budget detail will be provided in May and that several study sessions are planned ahead of final budget votes in early June.
