Apex Parks advisory board welcomes new member; staff previews spring events

The Apex Parks and Recreation Advisory Board opened its April 29, 2026 meeting by welcoming a new board member and sharing a slate of spring events and volunteer recognitions.
Abishek introduced himself to the board as a resident and parent, saying he values parks and greenways as places for families to gather. "I'm Abishek. Um it's truly a privilege serving Apex on this advisory board ... it matters a lot to me," he said.
Staff reminded members of a volunteer appreciation dinner at the senior center (5:30–7:30), previewed Peakfest—moved to the campus this year because of downtown streetscape work—and recapped a successful Earthfest that featured student plantings and a fashion presentation. Staff also announced AAPI Month events: Sushi and Sumo on May 7 at Apex Community Park and a Maang social on May 21 at the senior center.
Staff answered a procedural question about maintenance, stating that grounds are maintained by a contractor (Greenscape). Chair remarks included leaving room for public comment; none was offered during the meeting. The board approved meeting minutes from February 25 and March 25, 2026, and adjourned at the meeting's close.
