The City Council on April 27 approved changes to the city’s historic preservation code (Ordinance 1516‑26) and awarded a historic façade grant for window replacement at a property on 10th Street.
Will Macau, the city’s historic preservation planner, said the ordinance updates add new sections (30.180–30.182) and amend Chapter 154 and a land‑development code cross‑reference to avoid duplication. Staff confirmed the state’s Certified Local Government (CLG) coordinator said the municipality may identify its chief elected official by the local practice; council decided to designate the council president for CLG signature purposes.
Separately the council approved a historic façade grant request after the owner revised a proposal to use wood‑frame windows consistent with the preservation board’s standards. Macau said the total quoted cost for the work was $8,700 and the applicant requested the eligible 50% matching grant ($4,350).
Council directed staff and the public information officer to notify historic‑district property owners of the grant program and the expanded list of eligible improvements.
