County green-lights CivicsPlus records portal to centralize public-records requests

The Lassen County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with CivicsPlus to implement a centralized public-records portal on the county website.
County staff said the portal will allow residents to submit and search public-records (PRA) requests from a single location, reduce duplicate work across departments and provide a searchable archive of completed responses so common requests can be answered more quickly. Staff explained the portal will route requests to departments, provide administrative oversight and integrate a workflow that includes attorney review and redaction where needed. The county plans to add the portal in tandem with a new website that staff estimated would be launched in June.
On contract terms, staff said CivicsPlus typically limits annual increases to about 5% after the initial term and that the agreement auto-renews; county staff said they can terminate before renewal if budget conditions change. Supervisors approved the agreement and authorized county administration to execute it.
The portal is intended to improve public access and staff efficiency; implementation will require department cooperation to ensure records are uploaded and requests are routed within government-code timelines.
