Board approves switch to EdgeStaff for substitute services

Mr. B presented the recommendation, saying the district previously used an in‑house model, moved to a contracted service (Teachers on Call/Kelly Education) in 2017–18, and now proposes EdgeStaff to reduce administrative markup, improve substitute training and regain ownership of frontline data. "One of the benefits... is we'll pay for the subscription but we'll own that data," he said.
Mr. B acknowledged migration risks: some substitutes will need to reapply or transfer credentials; the district plans in‑person rollover sessions and district support to ease the transition. He said the vendor estimates a streamlined rollover process for substitutes who previously worked with Kelly Education.
After discussion about staffing continuity and communications to the substitute pool, a board member moved to approve the EdgeStaff agreement; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The district will notify current substitutes, host assistance sessions and coordinate the technical migration; staff said they will monitor short‑term supply impacts while pursuing longer‑term service improvements.
