Enterprise Board honors student leaders and multiple National Board-certified teachers

The Enterprise City Board of Education opened its April 28 meeting with a slate of recognitions celebrating students and teachers across the district.
Mrs. Christy Minton of Holly Hill Elementary presented Jack Ketner as the school's Student of the Month, citing his roles as school president, Beta competition placements and community service. "Jack's resume is already more impressive than many adults I know," Minton said, noting his leadership and daily discipline.
Minton then introduced Drawan Badger as Support Staff of the Month, praising his four years at Holly Hill and his role as lead custodian. Teachers and students described Badger as a dependable, positive presence in hallways and classrooms.
The board also recognized Sadie Guerrero as Holly Hill's Teacher of the Month. The presentation highlighted Guerrero's 10 years of teaching, service as a mentor and grade-level chair, and her work-life ties to Enterprise City Schools. Minton said Guerrero "teaches the child" as well as the curriculum and noted her colleagues' praise.
District leaders then held the second annual National Board recognition ceremony. Dr. Cain and Mr. Drew Danner introduced multiple recipients who earned National Board certification — a national professional recognition for accomplished teachers — and presented placards and district challenge coins. Named in the presentation were Kera Danner, Caroline Foster Edge (who could not attend), Miss Sheffield and Haley Quincy. The district said the recognitions add to its total of National Board-certified teachers and that it would prominently display each recipient's certification and date outside classroom doors.
Board members and administrators praised the awardees, and Mr. Danner noted the personal and professional commitment required to earn the credential. "This process requires these teachers to demonstrate a deep understanding not only of the needs of our students, their content, their use of data ..." Danner said during the presentation.
Next steps: The board closed the recognition items and moved on to the regular agenda. The district will display recipients' placards and continue the annual recognition event for National Board-certified teachers.
