County authorizes purchase of a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee for sheriff’s civil process duties

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners authorized the purchase of a used 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Jansen Automotive as a replacement civil process vehicle for the sheriff’s department.
Sheriff’s staff described the county’s existing 2009 Chevy Impala as increasingly unreliable and recommended an SUV with four-wheel drive for rural access and weather conditions. Staff recommended the Jansen vehicle for its size, price and trade-in value.
The board moved and approved the purchase at a listed price of $29,999, with a $2,699 trade allowance for a final price of $26,199. Commissioners discussed transferring equipment from the old vehicle, fitting the new vehicle with required mounts and equipment, and noted the vehicle will be fitted similarly to patrol vehicles so it can serve civil and other uses as required.
Next steps: staff will complete the purchase and outfit the vehicle with necessary equipment for civil-process and departmental use.
