Other commissioners insisted fiscal discipline and parity across constitutional offices are important, and warned that making an exception now could invite similar requests from other offices.
Public commenters echoed concerns about spending priorities. Commissioners said they would let the appeal process with the governor and cabinet run its course while remaining open to providing funds if the sheriff demonstrates documented need for the remainder of the fiscal year. No formal motion to change the countys prior budget decisions was recorded.
