The project estimate read into the record was $3,500,000; Melanie listed reported base bids from Anderson Columbia, Kurt's Construction and CW Roberts (read as presented at the meeting).
Later in the meeting the board approved two Florida Department of Transportation public-transportation grant agreements: a $500,000 grant for design and construction funding for the taxiway realignment (financial project number provided in staff materials) and another $500,000 grant for a new hangar. Staff noted FDOT District 3 no longer accepts the "Ready" waiver in that district, which means the county must identify a match for the hangar grant or pursue other funding sources. Staff said they plan to pursue RIF or other grant sources to fund the local match.
The board also considered an FDOT Local Agency Program agreement to construct sidewalks on Ash Street and Johnson Road; the resolution to accept that agreement passed.
County staff said the airport projects are important for economic development and emphasized they will return with recommendations on low-bid awards for the taxiway realignment once ARPA and other matching funds are reconciled.
