Board approves two Rutger's resort plats after staff confirms water and wastewater arrangements

MADAM CHAIR: The board approved a series of plats for resort cottage developments at Rutger's (Ruttger's) after Land Services and staff confirmed water and wastewater capacity.
Land Services presented three related items: the preliminary plat (and later the final plat) for Rutger's First Hole Golf Cottages (parcel 50030614), and the preliminary and final plats for Rutger's Lakeside Cottages Second Edition (parcel 50030598). The Planning Commission recommended approval of the preliminary plats following public hearings on April 16, 2026.
Commissioners asked technical questions about septic and water. Staff said the First Hole proposal exceeds the 10,000-gallons-per-day threshold and therefore operates under a state Pollution Control Agency permit; staff confirmed available wastewater capacity and a wellhouse serving the resort. For the Lakeside cottages, staff said wastewater would route to the same treatment plant with lift stations and a drain field and that separate wells serve the north and south sides. With those confirmations on water and wastewater capacity, commissioners moved and approved the preliminary and then final plats for each project.
Why it matters: The actions formalize legal descriptions for cabin lots in an established resort area and ensure state-permitted wastewater and well infrastructure will serve the developments.
