Procurement: Administration recommended awarding the bid for a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 (double cab, four-wheel drive) at $52,557 to the responsive local dealer. The board voted by roll call to approve the purchase. Administration said only one responsive bid was received after the original solicitation produced no responses and the bid was hand-delivered to local dealers; the recommendation emphasized local dealer pricing and that the chosen double-cab configuration met maintenance needs.
Policy: On second reading of board policies (including Title IX and grievance provisions), discussion centered on a state-recommended wording change that would remove an explicit requirement to notify parents when a complaint is filed. Board member Adam raised concerns about removing parental notification; administration said current practice is to notify parents and recommended approving the policy with a modification to retain parent notification language. The board approved the second reading with that exception by roll-call vote.
Executive session and student-discipline action: The board entered executive session for personnel and student-discipline matters. After returning to open session, the board adopted a motion clarifying that student number 20242's expulsion will end Dec. 22, 2024 (previously listed as the end of the first semester of the 2024-25 school year). The motion passed by roll-call vote.
What to watch: Administration will present bond financing details at a special bond meeting on Oct. 28; procurement and policy changes will be implemented by administration and recorded in district files. The district will also continue the hiring process for a transportation director vacancy and post the position publicly.
