The board adopted Resolution 2026-03 formalizing the budget after a public hearing and then approved appropriations by roll-call vote. The combined March balances reported earlier were $5,774,723.69 (village accounts $5,546,932.30; commission accounts $227,791.39).
Officials said the adopted budget increases spending by about $300,000, approximately 6.8%, driven chiefly by capital purchases and higher insurance costs. The package includes a transfer of about $22,000 to complete purchases for the new police department and line items for a police drone, a canine program, upgraded camera systems and a one-time reserve increase per the village’s benefits/insurance policy. Presenters also noted changes to health-plan cost projections after working with the village’s benefits consortium; projected PPO and HMO increases were reduced from earlier estimates.
Board members moved to close the public hearing and then voted to adopt the budget. The vote was recorded by roll call and carried unanimously.
The new appropriation ordinance allows spending at levels consistent with the adopted budget; implementation of certain capital items will proceed through the appropriate procurement and purchasing steps.
