The Village of Hartland board voted to approve a user‑group application and agreement for Lake Country Flag Football to use Centennial fields for youth leagues covering grades five through eight.
Phil Hallahan, who with his wife started the league, told trustees the program grew faster than expected and served “about 120 kids” last season. He said the group submitted about seven weeks of dates and offered $2,500 as consideration under the proposed agreement. Hallahan said the league was intended to provide playing opportunities for kids who cannot play tackle football; as he put it, “our son was born with a brain malformation that required surgery and he just can’t play tackle… but he loves football and he’s awesome at it.”
Trustees moved, seconded and approved the agreement by voice vote. The agreement allows the league to mark and use multiple fields at Centennial and anticipates possible expansion to additional village outfields in future seasons.
What’s next: Staff will finalize the user‑group agreement and field scheduling with the organizer; Hallahan indicated portable restrooms and additional logistics are being arranged before the season.
