Ross Shrekman, a Casper resident, told trustees he was "concerned" about district work on artificial intelligence policy, arguing that the tools commonly labeled AI collect and retain information about users. "Artificial intelligence is an oxymoron. Intelligence is real. People, humans are intelligent. Machines help people," Shrekman said, and he urged the board to protect students' personal information and ensure students continue to develop critical thinking skills rather than rely on machine-generated content.
Later in the public-comment period, Ricky Windrove, owner of CNR's Preeminent Marketing, delivered a brief pitch on commercial solar and integrated technology services. Windrove said solar could "save you guys millions and millions of dollars over your time payments" and offered to return for a fuller briefing and to share materials with the board.
Board response: Trustees thanked both speakers; no formal action or vendor selection occurred during the meeting. The board's policy committee said broader AI policy work will be scheduled for fall 2026 to allow district staff time to evaluate fast-moving developments.
