The Coconut Creek City Commission used part of its March 12 meeting to welcome two new police officers and to present awards acknowledging the city’s financial and procurement performance.
Officer Angelina Costa and Officer Michael Kadmi were introduced by the police chief and sworn in by City Clerk Kavanagh. The chief highlighted Costa’s local upbringing and experience as a police explorer and service aide, and noted Kadmi’s Coconut Creek roots and school history, including Monarch High School. Family members pinned the officers’ badges in a brief ceremony.
Finance and Administrative Services Director Peter Gay Lake presented the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2024, noting the city has received that award for 41 consecutive years and the Popular Annual Financial Report award for the 17th consecutive year. Gay Lake also announced the city received the 2026 Award for Excellence in Public Procurement from the Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials; he noted Coconut Creek was one of 25 entities statewide to receive the procurement honor.
The presentations highlighted continuity in the city’s accounting and procurement work and underscored personnel recognition alongside routine commission business.
