The Ballston Spa Board of Trustees accepted the retirement of Planning Board Chair Rory O'Conor, effective June 1, 2026. The board read O'Conor's letter aloud at the meeting and moved to accept the resignation with regret.
O'Conor's letter recounted nearly 20 years of service in various village roles and urged the community to work through division on development issues. "My commitment to the village and its future will sadly come to an end effective June 1st, 2026," the letter said, and recommended that Scott Berlingame serve as the next chair if appointed.
Trustees praised O'Conor's steady leadership. The board voted to accept the retirement; the vice chair will serve as acting chair until the effective date.
What's next
The mayor and trustees will follow the village's appointment process to fill the planning-board chair position after June 1.
