Aspire reports bigger investment pipeline; Jason Taylor appointed RDC representative

The Johnson County redevelopment body heard an update March 23 from Aspire on the county’s economic-development pipeline and formally appointed Jason Taylor as the RDC’s representative to the Aspire Johnson County Economic Development Advisory Council.
Amanda, an Aspire representative, told commissioners that Aspire’s active lead count was 54—slightly down from 59 a year earlier—but that new larger projects have expanded potential job and investment figures. "We've gone from about 9,400 jobs all the way up to 25,000 jobs and ... 3.1 billion in potential investment to 17.3 billion in potential investment," Amanda said, stressing that the larger totals reflect several big projects in the pipeline and not guaranteed outcomes.
She said five active projects currently could result in roughly 600 jobs and about $267 million in investment if they progress, and that Aspire is focusing outreach to defense-sector opportunities given proximity to Camp Adterabary and Crane. The Aspire team also reported outreach metrics and ongoing relationship-building with site selectors and brokers.
The commission formally appointed Jason Taylor to continue representing the RDC on the Aspire advisory council; Taylor said he serves in multiple capacities and is willing to continue his participation. Commissioners thanked Amanda for the update.
