City of Temple Terrace Parks and Recreation staff on camera outlined this summer’s lineup of youth offerings, saying summer camps will begin June 1 and will include pool activities, field trips and expanded sports options.
"In one word, I would say connections," said the summer and after school coordinator, describing how the family complex, parks, trails and fields bring residents together. The coordinator listed pools, crafts and local trips as program cornerstones.
Tiffany Beltran, recreation supervisor over aquatics at the Family Recreation Complex, described the department’s pool-based offerings and a revamped junior lifeguard program for 12- to 15-year-olds. "Participants will gain rescue techniques and hands-on leadership skills," Beltran said, adding that the program is intended to build confidence and teamwork around water.
Coach Kenny, the recreational leader for gymnastics, highlighted gymnastics camps and competitive opportunities, saying the city’s "Excel silver program just won first place" recently in Punta Gorda. He said camps provide a safe space for children to learn fundamentals and, for some, to pursue competitive tracks.
Staff also previewed field trips to Zoo Tampa and Urban Air, visits from a magician and a petting zoo, and plans to expand youth sports beyond tennis to include soccer, basketball and flag football. Officials said the youth basketball league has been relaunched and summer camps are intended to support that momentum.
The presentation closed with a reminder that summer camps begin June 1. Registration details and fees were not specified in the transcript.
