During routine consent calendar discussion, Commissioner Jay invited Garfield Adams, assistant superintendent of operations for Knox County Schools, to describe a $1.2 million gift from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to benefit Gibbs High School. Adams said the donation will primarily fund an all-purpose turf field for baseball and softball, a hitting facility and other improvements that multiple sports programs will use.
Commissioners praised the donation and noted its local benefits; the consent calendar item passed as part of the broader consent vote.
