A resident identified as Mr. AJ used the gallery comment period to press the board on greenway conditions and public outreach for budget submissions.
"I heard it from you guys about the greenway... I just want to skate down, skate around the Bronx," Mr. AJ said, urging repaving of the Marshall Loop/Pelum greenway as a greener transportation alternative and to enable access to recreational sites. He asked the board to share a clear public guide or a hyperlink showing how people can submit requests and what options are available, describing the approach as similar to a 311 guide.
Board members responded that supporting materials and prior requests are available in the meeting agenda and on the community board website, and recommended including more documentation—sources, letters of support and more detailed descriptions—when resubmitting longstanding items so they stand a better chance with city agencies. Participants contrasted practices among community boards, saying some (for example, Riverdale) provide more detailed submissions and therefore have better outcomes in some cases.
Mr. AJ and other commenters also referenced access to an upcoming skatepark project; speakers said construction/procurement timing is uncertain and the board will follow up on related access issues.
Jennifer, a gallery attendee, said the meeting was informative and that she plans to be more involved after learning how the process works.
The board closed the public comment period and moved on to procedural items.
