At its March 30 meeting the Vestavia Hills Board of Education approved several business and personnel items, including principal contracts, a transportation purchase and a licensing agreement for branded materials.
The superintendent recommended and the board approved principal contracts for Lauren Dressback, Dr. Alicia Hunsberger and Bill Mann by motion, second and voice vote. The board congratulated the appointees after the motion carried.
The board also approved the purchase of two school buses, to be procured from state contracts. Staff noted the district will use a combination of fleet renewal dollars (for buses under 10 years old) and capital funds to finance the purchases: "we purchase these off of state contracts," a staff member told the board.
Separately, the board approved a licensing agreement with Danny Santiago doing business as Bomb Squad Graphics to produce large-format banners and branded items under the district's updated branding guide. Staff said the guide was updated in collaboration with athletic director Lori Casey and assistant athletic director of communications Abby Gillette and that trademark protections and licensing procedures have been implemented to manage usage of district marks.
All items on the consent and business agendas were advanced by motion and approved by the board; the meeting record shows voice votes with "Aye" responses and no recorded dissents in the transcript.
