The Borough of Red Bank council used part of its meeting to recognize several local educators and to declare Arbor Day in the borough.
Mayor William Portman read proclamations honoring Jennifer Rigby (2025 Governor's Educator of the Year, Red Bank Primary School), Diana Archula (2025 Governor's Educator of the Year, Red Bank Middle School), Joanne Fiori (2025 educational service professional for the Red Bank Borough Public School District) and Kristen Smith (2025 NJDOE exemplary secondary educator). The proclamations cited classroom leadership, inclusive practices and community engagement.
The mayor also proclaimed April 24, 2026, as Arbor Day in the Borough of Red Bank and thanked the Shade Tree Committee for a townwide street-tree inventory and a tree-canopy planting initiative. The committee was encouraged to help residents sign tree-waiver forms and identify appropriate planting locations.
In reports, council members and staff highlighted the recent green fair, new local businesses (including Under the Glass Pinball and an ice-cream shop on East Front Street), upcoming community events (Broadwalk and a street fair) and that Marine Park remediation and infrastructure upgrades are advancing toward a targeted mid-June opening.
The meeting recognized community volunteers and encouraged participation in the borough’s events calendar. No formal actions were taken on the proclamations beyond ceremonial recognition.
