She cited several measures of recent activity: training 144 farmers and applicators in nutrient and manure management, certifying 72 pesticide applicators, engaging 296 youth through 4-H programs supported by 64 adult volunteers, and documenting 3,599 volunteer hours (valued at roughly $122,000). The extension director noted the program is co-funded by the state and the county and that her own role is state funded.
To make extension services easier for supervisors to understand, Brutder said staff will distribute short, topic-focused "Extension 101" videos explaining what extension does, how it is co-funded and why counties continue to invest. She also highlighted community projects including a manure demonstration that drew farmers from over 100 miles away and county fair activities that rely on extension and volunteer support.
Supervisors praised extension's work and asked staff to continue providing measurable outcomes for county decision-making.
Next steps: Extension will launch the "Extension 101" video series and provide a quarterly dashboard to the board showing participation and program metrics.
