Earlier in the meeting the board approved an additional appropriation of $500,000 from the rainy-day fund to cover asbestos abatement (about $150,000) and roof repairs at an elementary school. That appropriation was approved by roll-call vote with recorded 'yes' responses from trustees in attendance.
Later the board approved a rainy-day fund transfer of $2.15 million from operating/education funds to bolster reserves against large, unanticipated capital failures (administration noted single chiller replacements could cost roughly $1 million each). Trustees discussed reserve targets and the district's ability to appropriate funds back to education when needed; the transfer passed on a recorded roll-call vote.
