Site superintendent: Page County jail nearing interior finish work, gas and security hookups underway

Chris Ball, site superintendent for the Page County Jail project with the Samuels Group, updated supervisors on finishing work at the site. He said plumbing and HVAC crews are installing rooftop gas lines to air handlers and that the main gas line from the highway was started so a meter can be hooked up; crews continued ducting and began security wiring to cells and fire alarm installation.
Ball said concrete work for the east parking lot is completed and the south parking lot and drive were recently poured; crews scheduled driveway work for May 6 with an expectation that some crews will be off site that day. He reported the Iowa DOT inspected and replaced a culvert beneath the driveway during a recent visit. Inside the building, access flooring in dispatch is installed, storefront windows and the vestibule were put in, and crews expect detention frames to be in place by the end of the week so detail welding, glazing and HVAC distribution in cells can proceed. Ball said epoxy flooring installation is expected to begin shortly to allow fixture installation and water activation.
Board members asked brief clarifying questions about windows and progress; Ball noted painting and finish work continued and that natural light has increased with the storefront installation.
